Local builders will use any excuse to gnaw on a bit of barbecued goat. The start of the pad, the finish of the pad, the start of the roof, the last baton, the final leaf. We were unfortunate enough to visit the site just as the goat skewers were coming off the coals, and my refusal to tuck in started a fruitless (pardon the pun) debate over vegetarianism. They refuse to believe that vegetables contain any nutrients and think that if you eat them you get weak and sleepy. What do you say to someone making claims like this whilst chowing down on a carcass? I didn't tell Bo Diddley what I had seen.
